We spend the third part of our life at work and our workplace can rightfully be considered our second home.
Creating our workspace, filling and placing certain objects, we unconsciously adjust it in accordance with our personal qualities.
Things at our workplace ¬– this is our way of expressing ourselves.
The consultant on environmental psychology and the director of the British company Space Works Consulting, Layle Berngimer, identified five types of personality, depending on the state of the person’s desktop.
King of chaos
If you have a desktop on which there is easy chaos, a lot of bright and colorful things, as well as cute personal trinkets, you have an extrovert table. As a rule, the table will stand in the center of the office or near the entrance – it is always where activity is seething. These people feel good in the loudest and most active part of the office. Often clutter occurs due to lack of time, but even so, the table will not look dull or empty.
Minimalist
If you see a table that meets all the signs of minimalism – nothing superfluous and not related to work – then most likely an introvert is working at it. But this may not always be the case. First of all, it characterizes a person as conscientious, disciplined, reasonable caution. Psychologists believe that people whose desktop meets the criteria of minimalism are primarily hardworking, reliable, results-oriented, and succeed in structuring and planning. However, if there is not even a trace of your presence at your workplace, they might think that you do not plan to remain in your post for long.
Invader
A table filled with personal and working things, which are “imperceptibly” shifted to adjacent tables, occupies the dominant personality type. These people zealously defend their territory. Usually their tables are located closer to the center. With such people, you must immediately establish the boundaries of space, otherwise you will be “captured”.
Personalizer
A stylish, but at the same time simple workplace, testifies to an open person. These people with great creative potential are open to everything new. A table like a museum of unusual things. There may be one or two – a collection figure or a fascinating book – but they will be unique and bear the imprint of this person. Personalizers are curious, creative and extroverted.
Survivor
If you see a table on which the perfect order, and at the same time everything looks very harmonious, then you have the table of the survivor. Survivors prefer to protect their personal space – too many distractions can unsettle them. They can be introverts with a creative nature. Such people, for the most part, prefer to work alone, appreciate the comfort and order in their workplace. Just leave the survivors alone and don’t sneak up on them when they are busy.
